Immovable Rod
An Immovable Rod is a flat iron rod with a button on one end. When activated, this rod becomes absolutely fixed in space, defying gravity and resisting tremendous force. This simple but versatile magic item has countless creative applications, from creating temporary platforms to jamming doors to anchoring yourself in place. The rod appears as a simple metal rod, typically about 2-3 feet long, with a button mechanism on one end. Despite its simplicity, clever adventurers have found hundreds of uses for this item, making it one of the most beloved utility magic items in D&D.

How It Works
This flat iron rod has a button on one end. You can use an action to press the button, which causes the rod to become magically fixed in place. Until you or another creature uses an action to push the button again, the rod doesn't move, even if it's defying gravity. The rod can hold up to 8,000 pounds of weight. More weight causes the rod to deactivate and fall. A creature can use an action to make a DC 30 Strength check, moving the fixed rod up to 10 feet on a success. The rod is immovable in three-dimensional space - it doesn't move relative to its position in space, not relative to objects.
