Spell Mastery

Spell Mastery allows high-level Wizards to cast one 1st-level and one 2nd-level spell at will, without expending spell slots - representing true mastery over basic arcana.

How It Works

<p>At 18th level, you choose <strong>one 1st-level spell</strong> and <strong>one 2nd-level spell</strong> from your spellbook. You can cast these spells at their lowest level <strong>without expending a spell slot</strong> and without having them prepared.</p> <p><strong>Key Points:</strong></p> <ul> <li>You can still cast these spells using higher-level slots for increased effect</li> <li>You can change your chosen spells by spending 8 hours studying your spellbook</li> <li>The spells must be wizard spells in your spellbook</li> <li>This essentially gives you two at-will spells</li> </ul> <p><strong>Top 1st-Level Choices:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Shield:</strong> +5 AC as a reaction, at will - you become nearly untouchable</li> <li><strong>Detect Magic:</strong> Constant magical awareness without using ritual time</li> <li><strong>Magic Missile:</strong> Guaranteed damage, breaks concentration</li> <li><strong>Disguise Self:</strong> Infinite disguises for infiltration</li> </ul> <p><strong>Top 2nd-Level Choices:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Invisibility:</strong> At-will invisibility is incredibly powerful for scouting</li> <li><strong>Misty Step:</strong> Bonus action teleport at will - unmatched mobility</li> <li><strong>Detect Thoughts:</strong> Read minds infinitely for social encounters</li> <li><strong>Mirror Image:</strong> Free defensive buff every combat</li> </ul> <p><strong>Recommended Combo:</strong> Shield + Invisibility or Shield + Misty Step covers both defense and mobility at will.</p>
